Tim Horan
Partner
Tim Horan joined Indian River Consulting Group as a Principal after leading a distribution career spanning more than 25 years. The last fifteen years were spent as President & CEO of a multi-million dollar beverage alcohol distribution company where he led the company to new sales and profit levels before selling the business in 2001.
After selling his company, he returned to graduate school and completed his master’s degree in Organizational Management. A life-long learner, Tim believes the only true competitive advantage is to “learn faster than the competition.” He is committed to helping clients create learning organizations. His talents include asking the right questions to encourage people to think of new ways to perform more efficiently. He is accomplished in helping people create initiatives which result in increased productivity, new markets, better employee empowerment and greater customer satisfaction.
Tim is known as a person who can see the future possibilities of an organization and move it in a direction to take advantage of those opportunities. He measures results and personal satisfaction by his ability to build a team around an idea, mobilize the team to action and accomplish goals. The companies he managed had a reputation for making efficient use of leading technology and management skills to improve processes and systems throughout the organization.
Tim has the “on the job” experience that directly relates to the daily objectives and challenges of wholesaler-distributors. He has faced employees during a downsizing and offered assurance that the vision and mission make sense in the face of a crisis. He is very action-oriented with an enviable ability to paint a picture of the future and rally others around a shared vision. His concentrated experience includes sales, sales management, training and development, acquisitions and mergers, general management, and all aspects of organizational development and design.
One of his roles at IRCG is primary researcher for a new NAW Research Project funded by DREF (the Distribution Research and Education Foundation of the National Association of Wholesaler-Distributors). The study focuses on the changing nature and increasing complexity of the supplier/distributor relationship. This project will greatly augment Tim’s ability to help clients continuously improve their organizational effectiveness.
